Puerto Vallarta is one of Mexico’s favorite places to get married, and the first question almost every couple asks is the same: how much does a wedding in Puerto Vallarta really cost? The honest answer is that it depends on a few big decisions, mostly your guest count and the type of venue you choose. In this guide we break down average prices, where the money goes, the fees many couples don’t see coming, and what a wedding at Oscar’s starts at.
Average wedding cost in Puerto Vallarta
According to DestinationWeddings.com, a Puerto Vallarta destination wedding averages about USD 10,215 for 20 to 50 guests in 2026, with most packages between USD 5,000 and 20,000. Celebrations of 100 guests or more often go above USD 20,000.
- Elopements and micro weddings: often under USD 3,000–5,000
- Mid-size weddings (30–50 guests): around USD 8,000–12,000 in total
- Larger or luxury weddings (50+ guests): USD 12,000–20,000 and up
- Catering: commonly USD 100–250 per person
- Taxes and service charges: usually add 15–20%
These are averages across resorts and venues. Your number will move most with your guest list, because dinner and open bar are priced per person.

What drives the cost of a Puerto Vallarta wedding
1. Your guest count
Ceremony prices are usually flat or tiered, but food and drinks are per guest. Going from 50 to 100 guests roughly doubles the biggest part of your budget.
2. The type of venue
All-inclusive resorts sell packages, often with a guest cap: extra guests can add reception fees of USD 50–150 per person, and guests who are not staying at the resort may need a day pass of USD 100–200 or more. Villas and beaches look cheaper at first, but you bring in catering, rentals and staff. Dedicated venues and restaurant venues usually price everything à la carte. We compare them in detail in our guide to Puerto Vallarta wedding venues.
3. Dinner and open bar
A plated three-course dinner, a buffet or a taco bar, and a 3-hour or 4-hour open bar, are the choices that change your total the most.
4. Season, date and when you book
Many venues and resorts charge more in high season or on Saturdays. At Oscar’s, our prices are the same all year, any month and any day of the week. What does make a difference is booking early: the sooner you book, the more time you have to pay your wedding in installments instead of all at once.
5. Extras
Florals, DJ or live music, photography, fireworks, transportation and the legal ceremony paperwork are usually quoted separately.
Hidden costs to ask about before you sign
- Venue or site fee: some venues charge just to use the space.
- Room block requirements: some resort packages are only complimentary when your guests book a minimum number of room nights.
- Day passes: guests staying elsewhere may pay to enter a resort.
- Outside vendor fees: often USD 500–1,000 or more per vendor if you bring your own photographer, DJ or florist.
- Service charge and taxes: check whether prices already include them.
- Guest caps: what happens to the price above the package limit.
- Legal ceremony costs: apostilles and translations can run USD 500–1,000. Many couples do the legal paperwork at home and have a symbolic ceremony in Puerto Vallarta.
Wedding prices at Oscar’s Puerto Vallarta
Oscar’s is a riverside wedding venue on Isla Río Cuale, in downtown Puerto Vallarta. We don’t charge a venue fee, we don’t require a room block, and for weddings of 70 guests or more the venue is private at no extra cost. You only pay for what you choose. Starting prices for 2026 and 2027:
- Garden ceremony with Cross Back chairs, sound, coordination and lounge: starting at MXN 16,800 for up to 44 guests
- Three-course plated dinner: starting at MXN 1,600 per person
- Kids menu for children under 12, at its own lower price. Kids don’t pay the adult open bar.
- Vegetarian and vegan guests get dedicated menus, not just a side dish.
Included with your dinner: full furniture, setup and teardown, charger plates, special event water goblet, flatware, linens and napkins. Our in-house planner coordinates the day, and our own chefs cook your dinner: Oscar’s is a restaurant open every day, not an outside caterer.
Cocktail hour, bites, open bar and extras like florals, DJ, photography, fireworks and transportation are added to your quote depending on what you choose. Your total depends on your guest count and choices, so ask us for a personalized quote.

7 ways to save without it feeling “budget”
- Keep the guest list focused. Every guest adds dinner and bar.
- Choose a venue with no venue fee and no room block, so your guests can stay wherever fits their budget.
- Ask what’s included in every quote (furniture, linens, setup, coordination) so you compare real totals, not just per-person prices.
- Plan the whole weekend in one place: hosting your welcome party, wedding and recovery brunch at the same venue saves on transportation and coordination.
- Keep the ceremony and reception in one place to avoid guest transportation between venues.
- Book early and pay in installments, so your budget is spread over the months before your wedding instead of one big payment.
- Book vendors through your venue’s planner to avoid outside vendor fees and coordination gaps.
